LiteOn 20x drives cannot perform Full Erase on 4x DVD+RW media?

LiteOn 20x drives cannot perform Full Erase on 4x DVD+RW media?

Here is my problem. I have downloaded a movie in Avi format. And I converted to mpeg2 to be able to read on my DVD. But when I am trying to erase that disk on LiteOn 20x drives it is not getting fully erased. I am performing an erase operation at 4x DVD+RW media. But without success. I have burned with Nero has 16X. Hope that someone will help me to sort out my problem.

Re: LiteOn 20x drives cannot perform Full Erase on 4x DVD+RW media?
The fact that it tells you "successful burn" is not to say that your support is finalized. You can be multissession unknowingly. It should be possible to finalize a dvd already engraved (making all writing later on the same dvd impossible). For example, with Nero Vision 8, Nero included in the suite (I have Nero Burning ROM 9), just click on Tools Disk \ Finalize the disc.

Re: LiteOn 20x drives cannot perform Full Erase on 4x DVD+RW media?
Uninstall your cracked Nero (who knows what it can contain). To do this, use the Nero CleanTool Available at :
http://www.nero.com/eng/downloads-nero9-free.php
Then install version 7 that came with your burner (why worry LiteOn hack while providing an official?). It certainly includes Nero InfoTool utility (available in the Nero Toolkit folder). Throw it, because it will give you full information, including the model of your burner (top right corner of the window if it InfoTool Version). Can you then give us the exact model (mine is SHW-1635), and possibly the version of firmware (firmware) from the drive?

Re: LiteOn 20x drives cannot perform Full Erase on 4x DVD+RW media?
According to me, there is something wrong with your DVD. Many times such problem arise when you terminate the process of erasing abnormally. Did you ejected the DVD while erasing for the first time.?? If yes, then there is no use of trying it again. Because there is hardly any chance of getting that DVD erased. If there was no abnormal termination of the process then try to erase on another DVD-Writer by using updated applications.

Lite-On DVD can be still serious. Supporting a maximum write speed of 22X with DVD + R discs and DVD-R, these drives are available in PATA (iHAPx22) and SATA (iHASx22), LightScribetechnology is in turn supported by models iHAx422 . DVD + R DL and DVD-R DL burned at 8x, DVD + RW 8x, DVD-RW and 6x DVD-RAM 12x. 2MB buffer memory are available, access times and reached 140 ms to 160 ms for CD and DVD. These drives support finally SmartErase technology to erase the data permanently and irreversibly.

I’ve tried several different brands, and these are the best. I’ve burned over 700 DVDs and no coasters. Memorex is the worst and should be avoided like the plague. Peace.

Verbatim 16x DVD+R (media code MCC004, by Mitsubishi) is currently one of the best 16x DVD+R media in the market, in my opinion. I have 100 of these (4×25 pack) and consistenly burn excellent in my Plextor 712a (at 12x) and two BenQ 1620A (at 16x). By excellent means every burn will give a very low PIE/PIF (Parity Inner Errors/Failure) and zero POF (Parity Outer Failure). I’m sorry if its too technical but this is how I measure burn quality. When the burn quality is excellent, you will most likely never get any playback problem. Visit cdfreaks dot com in “media” or “dvd recording” forum for more information. I also own many different media from Taiyo Yuden TY T01/T02/G02, Ricoh R01/R02, Sony08D1, MCC003/004 etc and can confirm that MCC004 is one of the best quality. For your information, these companies (TY, Ricoh, Sony, Mitsubishi, Maxell) make a very good “dye” for DVD and CD disks under different brand (Fuji, TDK, Memorex, Verbatim, Sony etc), along with other poor dye makers. With a dvd identifier (free) you can check the media code of the disk, hence you will know who makes the disk.

…and this is the best media I have come across at the 16x speed. I have tried it on three brands of burners with only 1 failure out of 50 tries (and that one was likely as much my system’s fault than the disk’s fault). The three DVD Burners brands that I have used are Lite-on, Rosewill, and MicroAdvantage. They ARE buggy on certain Pioneer Burners, so you may want to avoid them if you are using a Pioneer.

With regard to high failure rates, before giving up, be sure to update the latest firmware on your burner, turn off any programs running during the burning stage, and make sure your power supply is sufficient (which can cause errors at higher speeds or the outside of the disk). If that doesn’t work, you may want to try different software; when I did, my cheap DVD’s went from jumping around to solid as a rock. If you still have high failure rates, it could be defective and subject to warranty. Otherwise, you may just have to stay away.

But, in my opinion, these are the most reliably produced disks out there, with Ridata coming in a close second.

Having brought approximately 5 or 6 hundred of these disks and in all that time only finding 1 of them to be bad; it is easy to recommend them. I have purchased many different brands before and none of them can compare. Buy these!

The 100 spindle package of DVD+R I just received from Amazon are the dreaded ‘Made in India’ batch. Most reviews rate these as far inferior to the ‘Made in Taiwan’ product. Buyer beware.
